LAS VEGAS – What's a Valentine's Day without a Valentine' Day date? For all you procrastinators out there who haven't found that special someone to spend the day with, Las Vegas matchmaking company "The Heart Brokers" has decided to provide some last minute tips on how to land that date for the most romantic day of the year!
Where are some good places to find a last-minute Valentine's Day date?
"Online dating sites are probably the best place to start – everyone is single! Dog parks are a great place to meet singles. If you don't have a dog, borrow one. The gym is always a popular place to meet people – group classes are your best bet. Most cities have last-minute singles events just before Valentine's Day. Check the newspaper and do a search online for one near you."
How do you transition the conversation from "hello" to "will you be my Valentine tomorrow?"
"Get to know the person as well as you can, despite the time constraint. You want to make sure you actually like them before you ask. Tell them that they seem really interesting and you would like to get to know them better. Ask them if they would like to be your Valentine tomorrow. If they say yes, arrange a time and a place to meet. Make sure you exchange phone numbers in case something comes up."
Once you've landed your date, what are some romantic ways to enjoy the special day?
"Cooking a romantic meal at your home is the most intimate idea. Candlelight and flowers enhance the mood and shows effort. If you are not ready for that level of intimacy, you can always take a class together – learn to brew your own beer, make a perfect pasta or dance the tango. Plan a couples spa day and get to know each other while getting pampered from head-to-toe."
What are some options for those on a budget?
"Get crafty. Make some cute stuff together, such as heart candles, paint pottery or make homemade Valentine's Day cards. Picnics are always a popular idea. Pack a lunch, bring a quilt and find a good private spot at a nearby park. Karaoke is always a fun option. It gets you to open up and act sillier than you normally would."
Any other advice for last-minute Valentine's Day singles?
"Get help from friends and family. Let those around you know that you are single and open to introductions and invitations to events where you could meet people. Everyone loves to play cupid, so ask people you know who they know. Lastly, if all else fails, order some takeout and spend it with the hottest, funniest, and smartest person you know - you."
