Carnival Triumph returns to Texas cruising Jun 13th 2013, 12:30 Published June 13, 2013 Associated Press A Carnival Cruise Lines ship that spent several days adrift in the Gulf of Mexico after an engine fire has been repaired and will resume cruises from Texas. Company officials say the nearly 900-foot Carnival Triumph departs Thursday from Galveston on a sold-out cruise to Mexico. The ship became disabled during a February cruise of the Caribbean. Passengers had to endure cold food, unsanitary conditions and power outages while the vessel was towed to Mobile, Ala. A company statement says the Carnival Triumph underwent $115 million in repairs and upgrades. Work was done in Alabama and at a dry dock in Freeport, Bahamas. The ship returned to Galveston on Tuesday. The Carnival Triumph can accommodate nearly 3,500 passengers and a crew of about 1,100. | |
