About 80 children and adults got wet to participate in Underwater Easter Egg Hunt in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary on Sunday. Spencer Slate, owner of a Key Largo dive shop, donned a bunny suit and scuba gear Sunday to hide colored, hard-boiled eggs for divers to locate. Among about 160 eggs positioned in the eel grass near Grecian Rocks, a popular snorkeling area off Key Largo, were two golden eggs that finders exchanged for traditional Easter baskets as prizes. Real eggs and nontoxic colorings were used to avoid negative environmental impact to the marine ecosystem. | |
